West London College is seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Data and Funding to lead a high-performing team within our Management Information Systems (MIS) department. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring that learner records, registers, timetables, and funding data are accurate, compliant, and effectively managed to maximise college funding and uphold data integrity across all areas of provision.
Reporting directly to the Director of MIS, you will take strategic ownership of data and funding processes, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of the College’s Individualised Learner Record (ILR) returns and full compliance with funding audit requirements. You will lead your team with vision and precision, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across MIS and the wider college community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and maintain robust systems and procedures to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of learner record data in line with ILR and audit requirements.
- Oversee the production of accurate and timely funding returns, ensuring the College maximises funding opportunities and supports informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Apprenticeship and Business Development teams to maintain accurate learner data from enrolment through to completion and destination tracking.
- Manage the set-up and maintenance of timetables, registers, and room bookings, working in partnership with Curriculum Management to meet operational and academic needs.
- Utilise quality assurance tools such as PDSATs and FRM reporting to monitor data integrity and proactively address errors or inconsistencies.
- Support the College’s annual funding compliance audit, ensuring all records are audit-ready and aligned with funding rules.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to team members and colleagues across the College, building capability and promoting data-driven best practice.
- Champion continuous improvement within MIS, identifying opportunities to streamline systems, enhance accuracy, and improve efficiency.
- Take a proactive, solution-focused approach to departmental priorities, supporting the College’s mission to deliver outstanding outcomes for learners.
About You
You will be an experienced data and funding professional with a strong understanding of FE funding methodologies, ILR data requirements, and quality assurance processes. A confident leader and skilled communicator, you will be adept at managing people, processes, and systems to deliver excellence under pressure.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience managing ILR data, funding returns, and audits within a further education or training provider context.
- A deep understanding of ESFA funding rules, compliance processes, and MIS systems.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to lead, train, and motivate staff, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
