About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Inclusive Learning Team Leader to join West London College. This role is key to delivering our commitment to Ambition, Innovation, Accountability, Collaboration and Inclusion, ensuring that every learner is supported to achieve their full potential.
Working alongside two other managers, you will coordinate Inclusive Learning support provision across the College. You will ensure learners’ needs are accurately identified and met, while promoting safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice across the department.
Key Responsibilities
As Inclusive Learning Team Leader, you will:
- Assess the support needs of learners with a wide range of disabilities, including sensory and physical impairments, medical conditions, mental health needs, and autism spectrum conditions.
- Arrange and, where appropriate, deliver tailored learning support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring inclusive and aspirational outcomes.
- Line manage Learning Support Assistants and Work Experience Learning Support Assistants, coordinating daily activities and fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
- Complete risk assessments for learners with physical and sensory disabilities in partnership with teaching staff and the Health and Safety Officer.
- Liaise with external agencies and support the recruitment of specialist staff in collaboration with HR, matching learner needs to expertise to ensure high-quality support.
- Ensure statutory requirements outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and SEN Support Plans are fully met.
- Provide induction, guidance, and ongoing support to agency staff, addressing issues proactively and innovatively.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and promote learner health and wellbeing, signposting to appropriate internal and external services.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure learners receive appropriate support, including examination access arrangements.
- Contribute to the planning, delivery, monitoring, and review of Inclusive Learning services, ensuring service plans and targets are achieved.
- Provide advice, guidance, and training to teaching and support staff to strengthen inclusive practice across the College.
- Monitor and prepare reports for EHCP annual reviews, gather learner feedback, and use data to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data management and funding requirements, including High Needs Funding.
- Keep up to date with legislation, technology, resources, and best practice relating to inclusive learning.
- Actively promote and positively represent the Inclusive Learning Department, reflecting the College’s values in all interactions.
- Work closely with the SENCO to ensure effective planning and delivery of learner support.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the role and the College’s mission.
